Published in Brittle Paper, this story is my exploration of obsession, ritual, and the weight of witnessing another soul. Inspired by the movie There Will Be Blood by Paul Thomas Anderson, I built tension through precise, unflinching detail—tracking every movement, tear, and hesitation of a cursed priest—while letting the narrator’s voice reveal their inner compulsions. The result is dark, intimate, and relentless, a story that lives in the space between seeing and being seen.

Published in this piece, I follow Tayo, a young man returning home for Christmas, whose perception blurs the line between reality and hallucination. The story moves through fragmented memories, sensory details, and sudden horror, building tension through Tayo’s racing thoughts and observations. My goal was to immerse the reader in his perspective—shifting, disoriented, and haunted—so that every sight, sound, and smell becomes a doorway into his mind. In writing this, I focused on pace, detail, and the interplay of the ordinary and the terrifying to create a narrative that is vivid, unsettling, and unforgettable.

Some of my work lives on Medium under the tag “Messy Pieces,” where I experiment, explore, and share stories in progress or unpolished form.
Warman is a raw screenplay I wrote, framed as a tense interview between a haunted war veteran and a younger man who interviews him. I tell the story of someone who was once a talented, larger-than-life musician—mastering every instrument, thriving in bright lights and high society—until war pulled him in. Through stark, unflinching dialogue, I trace how the violence started with shock, turned to numbness, then became routine, even sacred in its horror. I touch on lost love, broken promises, senseless orders, and the slow erosion of feeling, only for pain to return as a brutal sign of being human again. It builds to an emotional reveal and quiet, tearful connection. Short, intense, and unflinching.
